AmeriCorps VISTA

Addressing issues with seniors in poverty, literacy, and mentoring children of inmates throughout the state of Ohio.

Place of Peace

Facilitating safe child exchanges and supervised visitations for separated or divorced families at a neutral, child friendly site.

Center of Hope/Christian Cupboard

Serving hot lunches and offering groceries through a food pantry. Provides holiday food baskets and toys.

Portage Area Transitional Housing

Helping homeless families and individuals through a combination of housing and case management so they can become self-sufficient.

Chagrin Falls Park Community Center

Offering tutoring, recreational activities, computer classes, summer programming, food pantry, lunches and services for seniors, as well as community and cultural events.

AmeriCorps POWERCorps

An AmeriCorps program that provides recreational, social and leisure activities for adults eligible for services through the Portage County Board of MR/DD.

Consumer Credit Counseling

Offering budget and debt management counseling. Group presentations are available.

Project Book Smart

Collecting and distributing new and gently used books to promote literacy.

County Clothing Center

Distributing gently used clothing and durable good at no cost, while promoting a positive experience for volunteers.

Retired Senior & Volunteer Programs

Recruiting and matching abilities of seniors with gratifying volunteer opportunities.

Family Development Center - HESS

Offering emergency financial assistance, as well as supportive services, in a confidential and caring atmosphere.

Safer Futures

Giving women and children immediate protection from domestic violence, including shelter, support, advocacy, and access to community resources.

Fast Track

Providing intensive, in-home support for families involved with Children's Services or Juvenile Court.

Safer Solutions/Peaceful Solutions

Providing a skills-based program for teens, women and men to learn alternatives to violence/angry behaviors

Freedom House

Providing a 90-day shelter for

single adult male veterans.

St. Joseph's Child Care

Enhancing the social, intellectual and physical growth of infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children in an affordable daycare setting.

Foster Grandparent Programs

Assisting children with special needs in a school setting by qualified seniors who earn a modest stipend.

Senior Companion Program

Help Me Grow

Offering developmental screenings, parent counseling and community referrals for children from birth to age three.

Senior Nutrition Program

Providing congregate and home-delivered meal program for seniors to encourage nutrition and socialization.

Individual/Couple/Family Counseling

Offering professional mental health counseling for anxiety, depression, anger and relationship issues.

Senior Track

Providing case management support for abused, neglected or financially-exploited seniors.

King-Kennedy Community Center

Offering tutoring, food pantry, daily lunches for seniors, computer classes, summer programming, as well as community and cultural events.

School-Based Services

Providing school-based mentoring and educational programs to at-risk children.

Medication Access Program

Providing assistance in locating low-cost or free pharmaceutical to individuals in need.

Skeels-Mathews Community Center

Offering tutoring, daily lunches for seniors, computer and nutritional classes, summer programming, as well as community and cultural events.

Miller Community House

Providing shelter, as well as food, personal items and additional services, for homeless individuals and families.

Think About Your Future

Providing a court diversion program for individuals charged with underage alcohol consumption.

Parenting Toward Solutions

Assisting parents to maximize parenting skills.

Vol-N-Teens

Offering monthly leadership and volunteer opportunities for youth in seventh through twelfth grades.
