Text Box: Students for King-Kennedy
Since th early '70s, Kent State University students have been involved in the King Kennedy Community Center, one of the largest, ongoing social service projects ever created by students.
Many have volunteered their time and talents, especially with the after-school tutoring program. Others have helped with the food pantry distribution, holiday celebrations and neighborhood cleanup cleanup projects. Incoming freshmen involved in the "Academic Stars" program also volunteer during the summer at the Center.
Each holiday season, members of "Students for King Kennedy" organize a toy donation campaign on campus, which includes buying, wrapping and delivering over 200 toys and gifts for neighborhood children. Other projects include planning trips to Kent State basketball games and other special events on campus for children in the community.
By "checking off" a $2 donation on their tuition bills and taking part in campus fundraising events, Kent State University students support King Kennedy.
